The CEO of one of England\u2019s biggest MATs is set to step down after five years in the job.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

David Ross Education Trust\u2019s board has launched a search for chief executive Stuart Burns\u2019s successor, as it prepares for his departure this autumn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Burns stressed he \u201cwill remain on hand as long as is deemed necessary to ensure a smooth handover\u201d. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDRET is a strong trust, and it has been humbling to see how far the organisation has come thanks to the superb talent we have across all our schools and the dedicated support services we run,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSeeing the trust grow has been a particular highlight \u2013 two schools joined us just last year and I am confident that others will be following in their footsteps over the coming period.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He does not have another job lined up, but will “consider other [job] possibilities later\u00a0in\u00a0the\u00a0year”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The trust<\/a> said that under Burns\u2019s stewardship it has \u201cenjoyed a successful period of growth, investment and stability\u201d. It has also improved \u201cits Ofsted profile with well in excess of 90 per cent of its grades\u201d at \u2018good\u2019 or \u2018outstanding\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

David Ross, chair of the trust, said \u201cDRET<\/a> is in a much stronger position\u201d. This has positioned the organisation \u201cwell as we move into this next chapter\u201d, he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The trust wants to secure a leader to replace Burns \u201cwho can build on this strong foundation and continue the trust\u2019s upward trajectory\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
